e-Motor Design & Development

MAHLE Powertrain offers a broad range of electric motor development capabilities from early design concept, characterisation, modelling, analysis and simulation to prototyping, testing, verification and mechanical / electrical integration.

Our development process encompasses detailed considerations of all e-motor criteria including electromagnetics, energy efficiency, mechanical durability, bearing specifications, thermal management and NVH characteristics.

The mechanical, electrical and thermal performance of prototype motors can be evaluated on our dedicated test rig which has been developed specifically to support the detailed optimisation process.

We can support the integration of traction motors into the complete driveline system and develop optimised control strategies for hybrid vehicles to maximise fuel efficiency, vehicle NVH and driving pleasure.
