New powertrain technology demonstrators shown at Cenex LCV

MAHLE Powertrain unveiled two new low carbon technology demonstrator vehicles at the Cenex LCV event at Millbrook on 9th / 10th September.

Almost 3,500 delegates attended the event over the two days and MAHLE Powertrain’s outdoor stand drew plenty of attention. A total of five demo vehicles were displayed to showcase MAHLE Powertrain’s latest technologies in advanced downsizing and hybrid drivetrains. Visitors were able to experience the driveability and performance of the MAHLE range extender, MAHLE advanced downsizing engine and the new Through-the-road Parallel Hybrid demonstrator. A preview of next generation, high output downsizing with 160 kW/liter capability was introduced in a static demonstrator and the new in-vehicle PEMS testing for future RDE legislation was also showcased.

Dr. Martin Berger, Director of Engineering Services at MAHLE Powertrain, gave a well-attended presentation on Future Trends in Vehicle Hybridization in the plenary session of the LCV conference. A technical paper on Through-the-Road Parallel Hybrid technology with in-wheel motors was also co-presented by Mike Bassett, Head of Hybrid Group at MAHLE Powertrain and Tom Lucas of Protean Electric, within the associated IMechE conference on Sustainable Vehicle Technologies. Once again, MAHLE Powertrain successfully demonstrated its capabilities in the design, development and build of pioneering powertrain solutions for the international automotive industry.
