MAHLE Powertrain has launched a new project to develop a next generation exhaust gas after-treatment system (EGATS) for diesel passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. The objective is to reduce NOx emissions and diesel particulates whilst improving fuel economy and lowering system costs. The project will focus on reducing complexity relative to the current production systems and to minimise the amount of fuel that is used during the cold start phase.

The new EGATS will achieve full compliance with EU6c emissions legislation whilst also delivering lower CO2; emissions and reduced total system costs.

MAHLE Powertrain has received grant funding to support this project from Northamptonshire Enterprise Partnership's High Performance Technology (HPT) Investment Programme.
