MAHLE Range Extender on the road

Stuttgart, June 2012 – To provide a possible solution to battery-electric vehicles without range restriction, MAHLE presented its Range Extender engine at the IAA in Frankfurt last year. This 2 cylinder, 0.9 litre engine was completely designed, developed and built by MAHLE Powertrain and includes a fully integrated generator within the crankcase. The engine is now also installed in a compact-class demonstrator car for the first time.
