MAHLE Powertrain upgrades vehicle emissions test facility

Northampton, March 3rd, 2010 – MAHLE Powertrain, the engineering consultancy and services provider, has recently commissioned comprehensive upgrades to their vehicle emissions test facility in Northampton, UK.

The independent, VCA (Vehicle Certification Agency) certified emissions facility, supported by a high level of technical expertise, adds to the portfolio of products and services that MAHLE Powertrain is able to offer its customers. These include design, development, analysis, calibration and research as well as the prototyping and niche manufacturing of engines, which can all be supported in house.

Commenting on his recently commissioned facility, Sarj Manku, Chief Engineer of Build & Test, said:

"A comprehensive investment programme that started back in March 2009, has seen the facility upgraded to meet current and future legislation for gasoline GDI and diesel testing, with configurable dilute, pre and post catalyst raw gas analyser sampling system and the latest particulate measurement equipment. The facility is also able to accommodate vehicles running on alternative fuels.

Continued investment during 2010 will see the arrival and installation in early March of a particle count system that will enable us to support full EU6 development programmes and legislative testing for both gasoline and diesel.

The facility is one of the most sophisticated, independent, VCA certified vehicle emissions test centres in the UK and we have worked closely with Horiba Instruments Limited to specify and design a suitable installation for our requirements."
