MAHLE Group, together with MAHLE Powertrain, has enlarged its facilities and services in China

MAHLE Group, together with MAHLE Powertrain, has enlarged its facilities and services in China to meet the fast-growing local demand. Vehicle production in Asian countries has increased significantly with Asian vehicle manufacturers relocating their production, MAHLE said. It forecasts that Chinese vehicle production will increase from today's level of about 20 million units (passenger cars and commercial vehicles) to 30 million units per year by 2017. MAHLE has now expanded its existing Research and Development center in Shanghai to support this rapid growth.

The site facilities have been enlarged by adding three new buildings with nearly 9,000 m2; of additional lab and office space, added to the existing 7,000 m2;. When fully commissioned, the R&D centre will offer an additional four brand new engine test cells (making six in total), enabling MAHLE Powertrain to test virtually any automotive or heavy duty commercial vehicle engine.
