Quality Assured

Sign off and quality assurance

MAHLE Powertrain can support OEM’s validation programmes, either as a standalone activity or for maximum impact, as part of a larger calibration and validation project.

Our Approach

We are experienced in all aspects of calibration development.

Typically we will identify key Measures Of Success and monitor performance against these throughout a project, either a complete calibration project or just through the validation phase.

We determine the key applicable Measures from our own generic Measures Of Success (eg. Start performance, fuel control, etc) and project specific Measures (eg. On Board Diagnostic (OBD) thresholds, driveability, customer specified).

Measures are assessed either on an ongoing basis (eg. Base calibration assessments, OBD) using our fleet data processing tool, ProLogiq, or a specific test basis (eg. Emissions testing).

All measures must be passed in order to sign-off the calibration.

On a complete calibration project we would typically begin assessing measures using our fleet data processing tool, ProLogiq, on our development vehicles in order to ramp up confidence in the calibration as quickly as possible. This approach delivers near production confidence levels in the calibration along way ahead of when normal OEM production validation fleets would kick-off.

Our Tools, Facilities & Services
  • Calibration & applications expertise in base mapping, emissions, driveabilty & OBD
  • Generic Measures Of Success
  • We define Project specific Measures Of Success
  • CalLogiq software tools supporting application & assessment
  • MAHLE’s fleet robustness data processing tool -  ProLogiq™

Customer Benefits

All of our experience in the detail of what it takes to deliver a robust production application is captured in our Measures Of Success - from the statistical approaches used to process, assess and present emissions data through to the different fuels to use for starting in different environmental conditions, from base calibration quality criteria to OBD monitor headroom.

MAHLE Powertrain understands typical OEM sign-off requirements, the need to demonstrate the quality achieved through a calibration programme, the consideration required for error states and abuse conditions.

MAHLE’s approach can yield significant reductions in programme timing & cost at similar or higher levels of quality and robustness.
