On board diagnostic application

On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) calibration has to meet increasingly stringent legislative regulations, which have to be demonstrated prior to a vehicles release into the market. Diagnostic monitor calibration also needs to be robust, ensuring correct detection of system failures as the vehicle and hardware age. False detection of faults leads to increased warranty costs and ultimately poor OEM brand image.

Our Approach

Using CalLogiq  to guide the calibration process and ProLogiq™ to provide continual robustness assessment, MAHLE Powertrain engineers are equipped to meet the challenges of OBD calibration. This process not only reduces application time but also requires less resource, as fewer engines and vehicles are required as large efficiencies are gained by running robustness validation in parallel with OBD calibration.

  • Lead / follow approach on projects with multiple derivatives (multiple engine, gearbox and platform combinations)
  • Validation run in parallel with OBD calibration leading to early concern identification allowing fixes to be implemented and validated before calibration freeze/Start of Production (SOP)
  • Customer or MAHLE Powertrain targets / measures of success integrated into calibration process
  • Flexible, Matlab based, toolset for OBD calibration that can quickly and easily be adapted to different EMS or new software functionality
  • Large database of fleet drive data from USA and Europe allowing offline software development, evaluation, calibration and optimisation
