Boosting systems are a key technology enabler for Gasoline Engine Downsizing to ensure acceptable performance whilst increasing efficiency.


Our Approach

MAHLE Powertrain has been at the forefront of boosting technology development for many years. We have a detailed understanding of the complex interaction between the combustion, gas flow and energy management processes within the engine. This knowledge and experience is vital for the achievement of good low-speed torque and rapid transient response from boosted gasoline engines. Our downsizing demonstrator engine shows that performance and fuel economy can both be delivered when a highly boosted engine is fully optimised.
