Project Management
Maintaining control

MAHLE Powertrain runs projects in a matrix structure, with engineers reporting to a Project Manager on day-to-day project matters.

We use processes developed in-house to define, plan, monitor and deliver a diverse range of projects ranging from single-discipline, single-phase, short-term tasks to multi-discipline, multi-phase, long-term projects.

Quality system processes are developed for:

  • Project definition
  • Project kick off
  • Project delivery/tracking, including timing, financial and technical controls
  • Gateway process
  • Project reporting
  • Project work scope change control
  • Project close out
  • Customer feedback

Where appropriate we will interface with our customer's product development or product control processes and procedures.
The latest software is used to collate timing plans with planned resources, facilities and external costs to provide current and forecasted resource and facility requirements to Department Managers for resource planning purposes. The system also provides Project Managers with financial and timing information to monitor individual projects.

The Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) business philosophy is used to:

  • Manage CAD and non-CAD data in a Product Data Management (PDM) system
  • Provide the right information to the right people, at the right time, in the right format
  • Streamline and automate processes wherever possible to reduce cycle time
  • Enable collaboration with customers and suppliers
  • Integrate all of MAHLE Powertrain's business systems to eliminate waste and duplication
